Carlos Vila joined GSS in 1996, became a shareholder in 2005 and serves as one of the leaders of the firm’s Insurance Industry Service Team. Carlos provides audit services and consulting services for insurance, health related entities, manufacturing, construction, real estate, and other service companies, both publicly and privately held. Carlos’ experience also includes providing support services to insurance companies on fidelity and business interruption claims.
Carlos spends most of his time during the year supervising audit services and consulting services for property & casualty insurance companies, Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs), a medical malpractice insurance trust, insurance holding companies, and several insurance agencies and third party administrators related to the insurance industry. Carlos is also in charge of the Firm’s biennial audits required of the flood operations of participating insurance companies under the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) under the Write Your Own (WYO) Program. At present the firm is a major provider of the biennial audits required by the NFIP WYO Program.
Prior to joining GSS, Carlos held financial and executive positions with insurance companies, agencies, and self-insurance funds, among other insurance-related entities. Carlos worked with an international public accounting firm and also founded and managed a successful public accounting firm in Puerto Rico. Additionally, he has served as a member of boards of directors of insurance companies, general agencies and other related entities.
Carlos received his Bachelor of Science degree from Boston College.
Carlos is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)licensed to practice in both Florida and Puerto Rico. Carlos is an AXA Financial Advisor with Series 7 and Florida Life, Health and Variable Annuity Insurance licenses.
Carlos is a member of the American and Florida Institutes of Certified Public Accountants and the Puerto Rico Society of CPAs. Carlos is a past president of the West Central Florida Chapter of the Insurance Accounting and Systems Association, Inc. (IASA) and also a past President of the West Coast Chapter of the FICPA.
