Richard G. Ulrich (1935 - 2013)

Richard G. UlrichDick joined Gregory, Sharer & Stuart as a shareholder when the firm of McKelvey, Ulrich & Gassner merged with GSS in 1993. He had a distinguished public accounting career and was actively involved in improving his community and profession his entire life. In his 20 years of service to GSS, Dick developed a broad base of closely-held businesses and individual clientele. His diversified practice extended from tax to assurance services primarily for property and casualty insurance companies and related insurance agencies and administrators, employee leasing, medical malpractice, and other financial services.

Dick also provided support services to attorneys and government authorities in business damage analysis and valuation and was qualified as an expert witness in multiple Florida counties and the U.S. Federal District Court - Tampa. Dick's earlier career experience includes assurance services with a national CPA firm and the USAF Auditor General.


Dick received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Duke University.


Dick held the SEC Series 7 and Florida Life, Health and Variable Annuity Insurance licenses. Additionally, he held a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) designation as a member of the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts.

Professional Affiliations

Dick was a member of the American and Florida Institutes of Certified Public Accountants. He received the FICPA Presidential Service Award as 1998-99 President of the Florida CPA/PAC, and has served for 12 years on the Board of Trustees of the FICPA Educational Foundation. Additionally, he was a member of the Institute of Business Appraisers and the Association of Eminent Domain Professionals. Service to the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants included past chairperson and a 10-year appointment to the Committee on Finance and Office Advisory.

Community and Civic Organizations Served

Dick served as president, treasurer and member of the board of directors of the Suncoasters, Inc. and Festival of States organizations. Other activities included service as board member of the Tampa Bay Research Institute, Chamber of Commerce, Young Women's Residence and First United Methodist Church and treasurer for various charitable, social and political organizations.
