Richard Caton

Rick joined Gregory, Sharer & Stuart in 1990, became a shareholder in 1993, and is currently the Director of Assurance Services. Rick is the leader of the firm's Not-For-Profit Industry Service Team and serves as the designated partner responsible for the quality of the firm's Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) employee benefit plan audit practice.

Rick's career prior to joining GSS includes experience with both a large local public accounting firm as well as a national firm in St. Petersburg, Florida, where he served clients in a wide variety of industries including financial services (broker/dealers and mutual funds), not-for-profit organizations, manufacturers, healthcare and retailers. He also has worked with start-up and growth companies.

Education

Rick obtained his undergraduate degree in Accounting from the University of South Florida.


Certifications

Rick is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the state of Florida. He is an AXA Financial Advisor with SEC Series 7 and Series 66 licenses, as well as a Florida Life, Health and Variable Annuity Insurance license.

Professional Affiliations

Rick is a member of the American and Florida Institutes of Certified Public Accountants and serves on the FICPA Peer Review Acceptance Committee. He is a past president of the Suncoast Chapter of the FICPA and past Chapter CPE liaison and Chairperson of the Chapter Legislative Committee.


Community and Civic Organizations Served

Rick served on the United Way Allocations and Loaned Executive Committees and the Baypoint Elementary School Advisory Council. He is past treasurer of the Exchange Club of West St. Petersburg and past board member of the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce.
