GSS Announces New Shareholders

Three New Shareholders Join the GSS Leadership Team

Bo S. Brault, Scott C. Pearce and Victoria R. Bartlett become GSS ShareholdersST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (July 15, 2015) - Gregory, Sharer & Stuart (GSS) is proud to announce and congratulate three new shareholders, effective July 1, 2015: Victoria (Toria) R. Bartlett, Bo S. Brault and Scott C. Pearce.

Founded over 30 years ago, GSS remains a strong, local public accounting firm, focused on delivering unrivaled client service and professional expertise to companies in the Tampa Bay area. In an environment where many local CPA firms have made the decision to sell their practices to larger regional and national firms as a succession plan, GSS traveled a different path by self-funding their own retirement plans, ensuring that their shareholders have a viable exit strategy while also enabling them to add new shareholders to continue the success and growth of the firm. Toria, Bo and Scott join the leadership group that will keep the firm independently run and operated in the decades to come.

GSS shareholders have implemented many growth and development opportunities for employees interested in becoming part of the GSS leadership team. With three core values: seeking out clients and personnel who exhibit professionalism, integrity and good judgement; dedication to improving the quality of life of personnel and the clients they serve; and dedication to improving the quality of life in the communities in which they live and work; GSS has built a community-first mindset that starts at the top and is taught at every level throughout the firm. The firm has received multiple Tampa Bay Times Top Workplace, Florida Trend Best Companies to Work For, and Tampa Bay Business Journal Best Places to Work awards, the product of building an attractive work environment for their staff. As a result of their continued efforts, GSS has successfully recruited, retained and grown a talented workforce dedicated to helping their clients reach their goals.

“The background story behind each of our new shareholders is unique, and illustrates that the path to leadership positions at GSS varies greatly from one individual to another,” said Jim Newman, Managing Shareholder.

“Toria Bartlett began her career without an accounting degree, returning to school a little later than most CPAs as a non-traditional student. She earned her degree and CPA license, all while raising her family. She worked for years in the United Kingdom and Pennsylvania before deciding to move to the Tampa Bay area. Toria then sought out a firm to join with a workplace culture focused on the success and development of employees, finding a match in GSS in 2009.”

“Bo Brault joined GSS straight out of college, choosing GSS for the work-life balance advantages we offered that were unavailable at larger CPA firms. Bo rose rapidly through the ranks, mastering her profession and honing her leadership skills. She earned her CPA license, obtained an MBA degree and started a family, all while working full-time at GSS. Bo has demonstrated that hard work, dedication and a singular mindset of success will lead to great opportunities.”

“Scott Pearce was recruited to the firm from the northeast and already had the background and leadership skills we seek in a shareholder. From our initial conversations with Scott, it was apparent that his philosophies in regard to client service and staff development matched the mindset and culture we have cultivated here at GSS. He and his family are thrilled with his decision to join the firm, appreciating the family-oriented environment we enjoy.”

Newman concludes, “My partners and I are honored to have these three join us as part of our leadership team and we are excited for the future we will build together.”
